Best Guangdong pre-made cuisine to woo friends in Canada

Guangdong is to host a premade cuisine tasting and exchange activity in Toronto, Canada on February 4, local time, inviting overseas Chinese and international friends to take a bite of Guangdong delicacies.

Pre-made food refers to finished or semi-finished dishes prepared in a factory and preserved by freezing or vacuum packaging after pre-processing.

Guangdong has developed a fast-growing pre-prepared food industry on account of its abundant seafood resources, time-honoured agricultural traditions and robust productivity.

The event will also include an inauguration ceremony of the North America Development Center of Chinese Premade Cuisine Industry, and panel discussions on the premade food industry's development prospects in Canada, as well as its impact on people's lives.

During the activity, a batch of premade cuisine will be donated to the elderly Chinese in Toronto as a token of hometown flavour.

Local governmental officials, representatives from industry bodies and chambers of commerce, and media professionals have been invited to attend.

"As in China, COVID-19 has given a boost to the growing popularity of premade dishes in Canada," said Bill Chen, President of Sunny Foodmart Group. "We believe that Guangdong's premade dishes are sure to bring benefits to office workers and international students here."

Statistics show that Guangdong's pre-made dishes market was valued at 54.5 billion RMB in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 31.3%. The province also owns the top spot in China for the premade industry's development in the third quarter of last year.
