The award-winning dance drama Cavalry had its Guangzhou premiere on August 1, and it will continue to captivate audiences on August 2 at the Guangzhou Opera House.
Produced by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Art Theater and created by renowned artists and historians, Cavalry is the first large-scale original dance drama that takes the cavalry as its theme on China's stage.
Ethnic aesthetics and the rugged yet delicate dance language of the northern border of China transport Guangzhou's audience to the vast grasslands of Inner Mongolia.

Spanning six acts, the story revolves around Chaolu, a young Inner Mongolian whose personal choices align with his ethnic group during a pivotal historical moment. He joins the Inner Mongolia People's Cavalry, fighting for China's liberation and exemplifying fearlessness in battle.

The dance drama Cavalry came to Guangzhou, a land full of revolutionary spirit, on August 1st. It pays tribute to not only the revolutionaries of the past who spread from Guangzhou to the whole country, dedicating themselves to the Chinese nation's rejuvenation but also the soldiers who still guard the country and the people in the peaceful era.

The play has won numerous honors, from the 12th China Dance "Lotus Award" for Dance Drama in 2020 to the 17th Chinese Cultural and Artistic Government Award "Wenhua Grand Prize" in 2022.

During this tour, the troupe has been well-prepared. "Whether it was performing in Beijing and Shanghai before or coming to Nanning and Guangzhou this year, they have always valued the quality and standard of the performance, which is the reason why the dance drama can maintain its artistic vitality. They started the rehearsal in early May this year. Only by strictly demanding the actors' actions and emotional investment in the performance can they leave a deep impression on the audience," said the troupe leader.
Following its Guangzhou run, the dance drama Cavalry will continue its tour to Chengdu, Jinan, and Beijing in September and October.
