On September 20, the 2024 World Manufacturing Convention (WMC) kicked off in Hefei, Anhui province, with a theme of "Intelligent Manufacturing for a Better Future." It has invited France as the guest of honor.
As an important international conference that demonstrates the latest manufacturing progress, the convention has been held for six sessions in China since 2018.
This year, the convention serves as a platform for the city of Anhui, a strong manufacturing base, to enhance engagement with the rest of the world.

At the ceremony, a number of distinguished guests gathered for an in-depth exchange on manufacturing cooperation, including foreign politicians, officials from foreign embassies and consulates in China, presidents and senior executives of Global 500 and multinational corporations, distinguished academicians, renowned experts, and top executives of well-known manufacturing enterprises.
Representatives from China and abroad delivered keynote speeches, offering perspectives on both China and the global landscape to spark ideas for further cooperation in smart manufacturing.
In the speech delivered by Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), he noted that it is essential to accelerate the application of digital technology across the entire industry and the manufacturing chain. "We need to enhance the ability of industrial scientific and technological innovation," said Xin, "and also deepen the integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, increase the supply of high-quality science and technology, and strengthen the leading role of enterprises in scientific and technological innovation."

"Between China and the US, we need to form strategic partnerships among companies, universities, and government," said Neil Bush, Chair of the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations and Chairman of Skytower Investments. "We need to foster open dialogue, find mutual interests, share technologies, and benefit all parties." He pointed out that in the face of advancing global modernization, a closer network of partnerships should be built to support digital manufacturing.
During the opening ceremony, two convention releases were highlighted, including the debut of New Technologies and Products of Anhui Province in the Domestic and International Manufacturing Sectors via video, as well as the reveal of the list of "2024 Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises."

Following up, activities such as demand-supply matchmaking for key industrial and supply chains, a group signing ceremony for major projects, and the release of authoritative reports and important achievements are also held on this occasion.
The aim is to make the event a significant channel and platform to seize opportunities for the development of new quality productive forces and to showcase the achievements of advanced manufacturing. This will contribute greatly to building China into a manufacturing powerhouse, promoting international exchange and cooperation in manufacturing industries, and achieving shared benefits and win-win cooperation.
