Confirmed cases in Shenzhen likely originated from imported goods

According to the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, there were no new cases as of 5 pm on January 10, and one new local case was reported in the early morning of January 9.

The city on Sunday found a COVID-19 positive case during the investigation of key populations related with the cases that was reported on January 7. The individual was later confirmed on the same day.

So far, Shenzhen has reported a total of 4 confirmed cases and all belong to the same transmission chain. The cases are related to each other, and the transmission chain is clear.

Epidemiological investigation and the traceability of the virus show that the four cases are infected with Delta variants (Clade AY.103 ) and are 100% homologous.

Case 1 in this wave of infection is engaged in the international supply chain of goods, with a recent history of contact with overseas items. Comprehensive analysis shows that it is a wave of  local cases caused by imported infections. Exposure to overseas novel coronavirus-contaminated items is highly likely to cause infection.
