Thai PM extends warm wishes for Chinese New Year

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin posted on social media on the eve of Chinese New Year,,wishing the Thai and Chinese communities a good and prosperous new year.

His post features an English phrase “Happy Chinese New Year” and Chinese couplets that read, 新年快乐,万事如意 meaning “Happy New Year. May all your wishes come true.”

Then he wrote in Thai: “I wish 2024 to be a year of affluence and prosperity, and all of you enjoy a steady stream of wealth and good fortune.

Srettha conveyed optimism for an increased expansion in trade and investment between Thailand and China this year. Additionally, he expressed the expectation that the visa waiver policy would play a pivotal role in facilitating and promoting convenient travel between the two nations.

In another video released by the Government House on the same day, he stressed the Thai-Chinese visa-free policy,saying that “Thailand always welcomes our Chinese friends and we are ready to ensure your safety… because Thais and Chinese are like siblings.”
