Former President of Ethiopia and influencers eye BRI for greater prospects

The 2023 Understanding China Conference (UCC) was held in Guangzhou, south China’s Guangdong Province. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the conference. Since 2013, the UCC has been shedding light on China’s development strategies and international hot topics.

“To understand China following up its steps and details of where China was, and how it brought about this very miraculous development needs a thorough understanding of China,” said Mulatu Teshome, Former President of Ethiopia.

In his view, Chinese modernization benefits not only China, but also the developing world. “China became a voice for the developing world, so when China is strong, the developing world is extremely supportive of it and happy about it,” said Teshome.

2023 also marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). And it is a frequently discussed topic at this year’s conference.

David Ferguson, Honorary Chief English Editor of Foreign Languages Press, commented that the BRI qualifies as a truly global initiative.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of the Pakistan Senate Defense Committee and Chairman of the Pakistan-China Institute, said that the size, speed and scale of the BRI are unprecedented in recent human history, and the next 10 years are going to be the golden decade.
