No plan on GZ lockdown, Baiyun to resume normal operation

"There is no plan on locking down Guangzhou, and residents are advised to trust in authoritative information." Zhu Xiaoyi, Deputy Director-General of the Guangzhou Publicity Department, said at the press conference on Guangzhou's fight against COVID-19 today (November 25). 

After 5 days of upgraded control, the number of new infections in Guangzhou's Baiyun District declined. Residents living in subdistricts with no new infections detected in 3 consecutive days will resume to normal lives starting from November 26.

Guangzhou reports 7,524 new local COVID-19 infections

"On November 24, Guangzhou reported 7,524 new local COVID-19 infections, of which 89 were detected outside the controlled areas. The remaining infections were detected during quarantine, in high-risk areas, or among key people under closed-loop management," said Zhang Yi, deputy head of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission. Among the new cases, 257 were confirmed cases, and 7,267 were asymptomatic cases.

The rapid rise of infections has been curbed, and the daily number of new cases is slowly declining in Guangzhou.

The number of new infections remains high in Haizhu District. The affected areas of Kangle and Lujiang villages, Datang, and Longtan, the epicenter of the latest outbreak in Guangzhou, see their infections steadily decreased. However, Jinzili area, Fengyang subdistrict, Magangding, Tuhua village of Huazhou subdistrict, Taichong and Shiliugang, Jianghai subdistrict are still at high risk of the epidemic with uncertainty.

Tianhe District has found double chain interwoven clusters of epidemic cases caused by the importation from other districts. Panyu and Zengcheng districts have continuously detected positive COVID-19 cases with pressure in epidemic prevention. Yuexiu, Liwan, Huadu, Huangpu, and Nansha Districts remain stable condition.

Shenzhen detects 28+15 new cases

On November 24, Shenzhen added 28 confirmed cases and 15 asymptomatic cases. Among the cases, 19 were detected during centralized quarantine, 2 during domestic quarantine, 3 among the key population under closed-loop management, 4 in the screening of high-risk areas, 1 in the detection of close contacts, 7 in a key population under non-closed-loop management, 5 in the community screening, and 2 were diagnosed when the individuals sought medical treatment.

Zhuhai adds 13+12 new cases

On November 24, Zhuhai reported 13 new confirmed cases and 12 asymptomatic cases. The cases have been all transferred to the designated hospital for treatment.

Shantou reports 1+1 new cases

On November 24, Shantou reported 1 confirmed case (mild type) and 1 asymptomatic case. The cases have been all transferred to the designated hospital for treatment and their situation was stale.

Foshan adds 26+150 cases

On November 24, Foshan reported 26 confirmed cases and 150 asymptomatic infections, of which 160 were detected among residents under quarantine, 1 in the screening at the community level, 7 in the self-test, 4 were diagnosed when the individual sought medical treatment, and 1 from an antigen self-test.

Huizhou adds 7+8 new cases

On November 24, Huizhou reported 7 newly confirmed cases (3 in Huicheng District, 1 in Boluo County, 2 in Huidong County, and 1 in Daya Bay), and 8 asymptomatic cases (2 in Huicheng District, 3 in Boluo County, and 3 in Daya Bay).

Dongguan reports 2+33 cases

On November 24, Dongguan added 2 newly confirmed cases (1 in Wangniudun, and 1 in Liaobu) and 33 asymptomatic cases (15 in Tangxia Town, 4 in Liaobu Town, 4 in Houjie Town, 2 in Humen Town, 2 in Chang'an, 1 in Chashan Town, 1 in Daojiao Town, 1 in Huangjiang Town, 1 in Nancheng Subdistrict, 1 in Shijie Town, and 1 in Wanjiang Subdistrict). Among the cases, 12 were detected during centralized quarantine, 3 in domestic quarantine, 4 among the key population under closed-loop management, 2 among the key population under non-closed loop management, 1 in the close contacts, 2 in the coordinated screening across districts, 9 in the screening at the community level, and 2 were detected when individuals sought medical treatment.

Zhongshan reports 5+34 cases

On November 24, Zhongshan added 5 newly confirmed cases (mild type) and 34 asymptomatic cases. The cases have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment.

Zhanjiang detects 18+16 new cases

On November 24, Zhanjiang reported 18 newly confirmed cases and 16 asymptomatic cases. In addition, all 34 infections have been sent to a designated hospital in a closed loop for treatment.

Maoming reports 6+1 new cases

On November 24, Maonan District of Maoming reported 3 newly confirmed cases and 1 asymptomatic case. In the confirmed cases, 1 was detected in the key population under non-closed loop management (arrivals from other provincial regions) and 2 during the centralized quarantine. The asymptomatic case was found during domestic quarantine. Gaozhou detected 1 positive case in the population under non-closed loop management coming from other provincial regions. Huazhou reported 1 case in the population under non-closed loop management coming from other provincial regions and 1 case in the coordinated screening across cities. The cases were all diagnosed as mild types after examination by experts.

Zhaoqing reports 12+14 new cases

On November 24, Zhaoqing added 12 new locally transmitted cases (mild type) and 14 asymptomatic cases. In the cases, 16 were detected during centralized quarantine, 2 in home quarantine, and 8 in high-risk areas. All cases have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment.

Jieyang reports 5 asymptomatic cases

On November 24, Jieyang reported 5 asymptomatic cases (3 in Jiexi County, and 2 in Huilai County).
