July 1 marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It was also a milestone for the Shantou Asian Youth Games (AYG) preparatory work as the venues have all been near completion and can be put into operation soon.

Located at the Tagangwei area of East Coast New Town, the main venue includes a stadium with 22,000 seats, a gymnasium with 8,000 seats and an international conference center. It will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 3rd AYG and serve as a venue for the competition of athletics and gymnastics.

The Shantou Swimming and Diving Hall is divided into three areas: the hall area, the outdoor sports field area and the campus area. The swimming hall in the hall area is the most important structure of the whole project. It is equipped with a swimming pool that meets the standards of international swimming events, a swimming pool for training, as well as a huge digital screen and 1,363 spectator seats.

Shantou People's Stadium - Soccer & Martial Arts
Shantou People's Stadium is comprised of a stadium with an underground parking lot, the Chaoshan Gymnasium and an underground pedestrian tunnel connecting the stadium with the opposite side of Xinxing Road. It serves as the soccer and martial arts competition venue for the 3rd AYG, with its renovated grandstand able to accommodate more than 5,000 spectators.

Shantou Zhengda Stadium - Badminton
With 3,200 seats, Shantou Zhengda Stadium is to be used as the badminton competition venue for the upcoming Games. .

The Stadium will serve for the dance sport events of the Games, including facilities such as a track-and-field ground, a seven-a-side football pitch, a basketball field and an underground garage that accommodates 230 vehicles.

Haojiang Gymnasium - Taekwondo
The Haojiang Gymnasium in Shuangquan Park, Haojiang District will serve as the venue for Asian Youth Games' taekwondo events.

The stadium is where the AYG football group matches will be held with a 1,510-seat grandstand. New facilities added include an event management office, several function rooms and digital display screens.
