China, Russia further intercity ties

An online meeting and signing ceremony has been held between two Chinese cities, Qiqihar and Guangzhou, and four Russian cities, Ufa, Ekaterinburg, Kazan, and Khabarovsk on June 17.

Mayors of the six cities addressed at the meeting and introduced the strengths of their cities. They expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation and shed insight into the ways to promote intercity relations while stimulating innovation and vitality of different cities.

Guangzhou established friendly city relations with Khabarovsk, Ekaterinburg, and Kazan respectively in 1997, 2002, and 2012. Since then, Guangzhou and the three cities actively carried out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade as well as urban governance and youth exchanges.

According to the framework of cooperation, the six cities will establish a mechanism for exchange and cooperation coupled with further cooperation in fields of culture, education, sports, tourism, youth policy, technological innovation, medical care, trade and industry.
