Guangdong airports ensuring passenger safety amid Spring Festival travel rush

Starting from Jan. 17th, China's Spring Festival travel rush, also known as the Chunyun, will last until Feb. 25th. During the 40-day travel season, Guangdong Airport Authority (GAA) has taken various measures in advance to prevent and control the virus, provide quality service, guarantee punctuality, and passenger safety.

Highlights of Spring Festival Travel Services in the airports 

1.Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport 

All passengers, including those departing from the airport, seeing friends or family off, and picking up new arrivals, must check body temperature, swipe ID cards, show health codes and wear masks before entering the terminal building.

Resorting to high technology, the airport has launched no-contact services, such as, infrared induction elevators, ultraviolet disinfection trolleys, and ultraviolet luggage sterilizers. 

Besides, the two terminal buildings have been exquisitely decorated with a virtual tour of flower market, a spring festival sculpture show, and a tiger-themed exhibition in combination of lanterns, technologies, and intangible cultural heritage. 

2.Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport

Focusing on unaccompanied minor service, Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport provides children with reflective vests to ensure their safety while making them more recognizable in the crowd.

The No.7 security check channel for domestic departure has been transformed into a “sea world” theme park where children without a guardian can get to the boarding gate wearing unique cartoon slippers prepared for them. 

3.Zhanjiang Airport

For passengers with special needs, for example, elderly persons, pregnant women, infants, the airport provides pick-up, local dialects services and invites family members to join a WeChat live streaming of the departure lounge and the whole boarding process.

In addition, it has also launched convenient services like “One Health Code Pass” and “One ID Pass”, adding two ID card self-service check-in equipment to shorten the queueing time for passengers. 

4.Meizhou Meixian Airport

The terminal buildings are decorated with spring festival applique, accessories and kumquats loved by Hakka people.

During the New Year’s Eve and the third day of the lunar year, the airport will put candies and gold ingots in the information, ticket selling, check-in and boarding counters to leave the passengers with a strong impression of a true Hakka Spring Festival. 

5.Huizhou Pingtan Airport

Passengers living in the third ring circle of the city can enjoy door-to-door special shuttling service, and the airport parking lot will save spaces and temporary stop for special passengers.

For late passengers, the airport offers one-stop boarding service to make sure they can catch their flight on time. 

6.Shaoguan Danxia Airport

The number of inquiry staff has been added to help passengers who are departing from the airport for the first time. As well as Mandarin and English, the airport broadcasting has added Hakka dialect to the system. During the spring festival travel rush, it will hold theme exhibitions and activities with the zodiac sign --- Tiger.

What’s more, passengers can interact with each other to get a gift package and accept interviews to embrace the atmosphere of a splendid Chinese New Year.
