"It (Foshan Wing Chun) showed me that the world of Wing Chun is bigger than you think in the West," said Keith R. Kernspecht, the founder of the European WingTsun Organisation (EWTO) and the "father of Wing Chun in Europe", on the final day of his trip to Guangdong's Foshan.
Recently, Kernspecht explored the footprints of kung fu in Foshan, accompanied by Jesper Lundqvist from Copenhagen, Denmark, a kung fu culture promoter who has lived in Foshan for over 10 years.
During the last day of the journey, Kernspecht had a close encounter with Bruce Lee and Chan Wah Shun through precious cultural relics, old photographs, and documents. Meanwhile, he visited Wing Chun master He Liangxing, the fifth-generation inheritor of Wing Chun master Chan Wah Shun, and was deeply immersed in the charm of Foshan Wing Chun.
Kernspecht was impressed by the kung fu culture, welcoming people, and delicious cuisines of the city. He plans to visit Foshan this December again to continue his exploration of Foshan's martial arts.
