Highlights of Latin Carnival in Guangzhou's Huadu

On March 1, a Latin Carnival kicked off in Guangzhou's Huadu. This event integrates the characteristic cultural and tourism resources of Latin-American countries, with performances featuring Chinese and Latin-American styles on the show. Local people can now enjoy Latin style specialty in Huadu from March 1 to 6.

Rafael Pun, Chairman of Latin Mall, has been deeply involved in business between China and Panama for 4 decades. During a business inspection, he discovered the opportunity in his hometown, then he came back and started Latin Mall. 

“The culture of Latin-American countries is open, which coincides with China’s open economy.” He commented, explaining that this event aims at deepening the exchanges between the people of the two places and providing an e-commerce platform for two places.

According to Yamileth Ye Li, Consul General of Panama in Guangzhou, the Latin Carnival is a festival to support the activation of a group of various communities, to keep alive the traditions and customs of each country. “It is a dynamic way to activate the economy of each region.”

She added, “On the occasion of the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Panama, the activity intends to reconfirm the commitment established for the sake of further strengthening and energizing the activities of both parties.” 

Glaucio Veloso,Deputy Consul General of Brazil in Guangzhou, introduced that “the carnival is a very important date for Brazil, and there are many products from Latin-American countries present in China, including Brazil. We are very thankful for this opportunity to show a way to bring our culture together.”

Carlos Giralt, Consul General of Mexico in Guangzhou, said that “We are sure that working together with our partners in China can bring a more sustainable trade relationship which includes new ways for Chinese consumers to enjoy and benefit from high-quality exports. We are also confident that encouraging Chinese companies and business people to invest in our countries will be a win-win situation.”
