Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou holds reception for National Day

The Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou held a reception to celebrate the National Day on June 1 in Guangzhou, the capital city of south China's Guangdong province.

Zhang Jiaji, Vice Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), noted that Guangdong has maintained close and fruitful cooperation with Italy in fields such as trade and investment, science and innovation, design, and education.

"The trade volume between Guangdong and Italy accounts for nearly 1/5 of our bilateral trade, as Italian fashion, fine leather products and furniture are very popular in the Guangdong market."

He furthered that more than 300 Italian SMEs have business presence in Guangdong, and many Guangdong companies have invested in Italy, represented by Huawei, BYD, and Mindray.

Valerio De Parolis, Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, mentioned that Italy intends to deepen its cooperation in fields that meet China's needs and where Italy has strengths, including design, agricultural products, environment, and sustainable urbanism.

He added that with the resumption of tourist flows between Italy and China, social, cultural and economic ties between the two countries will be strengthened. With the resumption of flights connecting Guangzhou and Shenzhen with Italy, he invited more Chinese tourists to visit Italy.
