More than 1,000 events to be held in Guangzhou for the upcoming May Day

The five-day May Day holiday is approaching! Where are you going to spend this mini vacation? If you plan to stay in Guangzhou, an unforgettable journey awaits you as the city will be launching more than 1,000 activities for tourists during the holiday.

A sharing event focusing on tea will be held at the Mountaintop Square of the Baiyun Mountain, and tea professionals, amateurs and owners of tea houses or factories will be invited to share China’s tea-drinking culture.

On April 26th, you can take a boat from the Tianzi Wharf in Yuexiu to travel eastward along the river and visit Lianhua Mountain in Panyu, and finally end your trip back at the Tianzi Wharf.

From April 30th to May 9th, all star-rated hotels, dozens of travel agencies and renowned restaurants as well as nearly 100 famous chefs across the city will participate in a cuisine feast, bringing exquisite dishes from 14 countries and regions, including China, Southeast Asia, Russia, New Zealand, France, Italy and Japan.

During the Southeast Asian Food Festival, the Consulates General of eight ASEAN countries in Guangzhou will hold a cultural exchange exhibition featuring Belt and Road Initiatives at the Shangri La Hotel Guangzhou.

A number of arts and cultural groups will stage more than 450 professional performances in various forms, such as drama, puppet shows, acrobatics, singing and dancing as well as Cantonese opera at theaters across the city.

Starting from the end of April, national representative inheritors of Canton embroidery, Suzhou embroidery, Hunan embroidery and Sichuan embroidery will gather at the Canton Tower to share 237 pieces (sets) of exquisite works with both locals and tourists, showcasing the unique charm of China’s four famous embroideries.

Yongqing Fang will launch a tour highlighting the intangible cultural heritages in the city. You can travel along the Lychee Bay and enjoy the authentic delicacies such as Pantang Poon Choi and Tingzai porridge on the boat.

Major attractions in Panyu are also ready to embrace tourists during the holiday with a series of events. Shawan Ancient Town will hold concerts and activities featuring local cuisine to present traditional Shawan food, handicrafts and tourist souvenirs.

Baomo Garden will launch a cultural festival focusing on the lotus plant, making full use of this flower in the garden to show Chinese traditional culture.

Chimelong Water Park will invite four famous celebrities to attend its Water Electric Music Festival between May 1st and May 4th. In addition, Guangzhou Chimelong will also launch a 3-day and 2-night tour preferential package where you can enjoy two world-class parks in a row.

In Huadu District, Guangzhou Sunac Land will offer ticket packages with a 50% discount off and present a number of musical events.

Nansha District will hold the 13th Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival, where a ceremony will be held to welcome Mazu (a sea goddess who is worshiped by the people living on China’s southeast coast).

In addition, Zengcheng District will host various rural lodging activities, allowing you to experience rural life and enjoy the natural scenery.
