Shenzhen F.C., first CSL champion, dissolved

On January 22, Shenzhen Football Club issued a statement announcing its dissolution on its official WeChat account.

According to the list of the first batch of debt-cleared clubs announced by the Chinese Football Association released on January 5, Shenzhen F.C. failed to meet the requirements for admission into the professional league for the 2024 season and will no longer be able to participate in the Chinese Football Professional League. Additionally, its significant debts have made its sustainability impossible.
Shenzhen F.C. stated in the announcement, "Over the past few years, our team members have been selected into national teams at all levels. The exciting matches have created wonderful memories for our fans. However, the burden of historical debts has made it challenging for us to continue. We will do our utmost to handle the aftermath and sincerely hope that Shenzhen football and Chinese football as a whole will improve. We also hope that more individuals can contribute to the revitalization of Shenzhen football and Chinese football."

Founded in 1994, Shenzhen F.C. is the first champion in the history of the Chinese Super League.

The Beijing Guoan F.C. defeated the Shenzhen F.C. 3-0 in the 30th round of the 2023 CSL in Shenzhen, Guangdong. The picture shows Shenzhen F.C. fans in the stands.

Besides Shenzhen F.C., Guangzhou F.C. and Dalian Professional F.C. were also taken out of the list of the debt-cleared clubs released on January 5. However, the Guangzhou F.C. entered the second batch of debt-cleared clubs, as stated in the list issued by the Chinese Football Association on January 17.
