As a newly elected CPPCC member, Gao currently serves as a professor at Southern Medical University. He is also an Academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
“Learning the mystery of the brain not only can promote the development of clinical medicine, but also raise the whole research quality to another level,” said Gao Tianming. “Research on brain science has gained great progress in the GBA in recent years, and now the gap with other developed regions has been narrowing.”
Gao is proposing a development plan for brain science, including funding, venues and policies, aiming to attract more talents to work in the GBA.
Built in 2019 by 18 universities and research institutions from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the GBA brain science centre has achieved major support from the Guangdong Government.
Gao hopes that the centre can create an academic space where young scholars can achieve various supports on scientific research, such as academic resources, scientific research funds and guidance from senior scholars.
