WeChat Pay HK available now for Yang Cheng Tong

Recently, WeChat Pay HK has partnered with Yang Cheng Tong (a rechargeable transportation card in Guangzhou) to facilitate travel for Hongkongers heading north. It supports Hong Kong citizens to bind WeChat Pay HK with Yang Cheng Tong on both its mini program on WeChat or app to make convenient payments in Hong Kong dollars when opening a Yang Cheng Tong Guangzhou Public Transport Code.

When users take Guangzhou Metro, including Guangfo Line and APM Line (Zhujiang New Town Automated People Mover System), as well as public transportation such as BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), water bus, and tram, they can conveniently make payments with WeChat Pay HK in Hong Kong dollars by balance, linked Hong Kong credit cards or bank accounts. The transportation fare will be automatically converted to Hong Kong dollars at a preferential exchange rate for settlement.

In addition, users can also take the metro and buses in Foshan City through the Yang Cheng Tong Guangzhou Public Transport Code to conveniently enjoy the scenery of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The WeChat Pay HK will soon be available in the Guangzhou Metro APP as well as the Guangzhou Metro Public Transportation Code WeChat mini-program. Similar transportation mini-programs and apps in other cities will also be covered in the near future.

Hong Kong visitors continue to travel to and consume in the Chinese mainland. According to data from the Hong Kong Immigration Department, the cumulative number of Hong Kong visitors traveling to the north in October reached 5.35 million, hitting a new monthly high with over 200,000 Hongkongers heading north every weekend.

Mainland cities in the GBA are popular destinations for Hong Kong people, with Guangzhou and Foshan being hot places for short-distance travel. At this time, the cooperation between WeChat Pay HK and Yang Cheng Tong will further enhance the convenience for Hong Kong citizens to travel and play in the Chinese mainland.
