Explore GBA | Why do these tech companies settle down in Shenzhen?

"Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch has attracted nearly 20 Hong Kong science and technology institutions and enterprises to settle in, including Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute, InnoAcademy, and InnoExpress," Peter MOK, Head of Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) told GDToday on July 19.

As one of the major iconic projects for Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation in sci-tech, Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch is located in the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. This Zone provides enterprises with one-stop services, combing tax, policing, customs, and administrative procedures in one office.

In the Hong Kong Science Park Shenzhen Branch, Hong Kong institutions and enterprises in the branch can also enjoy a series of stimulus packages by the Shenzhen government, with access to financing, attracting talent and customers, as well as lower-cost workspace.

"Shenzhen has seen an increasing number of very talented young people flocking here in recent years, which is one of the advantages for our company,"  said Lai Cheng, General Manager of DanXi Technology Co., Ltd in Shenzhen.

Headquartered in Chengdu, DanXi Technology Co., Ltd has established a branch in Shenzhen for selling and marketing.

Lai furthered that the high-quality and plentiful labor resources, the geological convenience to find more possible customers, as well as the sound financial environment, benefit his company in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen's advanced development in intellectual property protection also reassures these technology companies.

According to the China (Shenzhen) Intellectual Property Protection Center, the staff in this center handled over 1.2 million intellectual property protection administrative cases in 2022. The number of patent authorizations reached 275,774, invention patent authorizations 52,172, and the international application for Printed Circuit Boards 15,892.
