Guangdong section of the Zhangzhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway makes new progress

On March 31, the first bridge foundation of the newly built Zhangzhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway, the No. 2 foundation pile of the 223rd pier of the Raoping South Station Bridge, began construction, marking an important milestone in the construction of the Railway's Guangdong section.

The Zhangzhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway is located within the provinces of Fujian and Guangdong. The line starts from the Zhangzhou Station of the Fuzhou-Xiamen High-Speed Railway, passes through Zhangzhou in Fujian Province, Chaozhou and Shantou in Guangdong Province, and ends at the Shantou Station.

The Raoping South Station Grand Bridge, currently under construction, has a total length of approximately 9537.07 meters. Located in Raoping County of Chaozhou, it is the first bridge to start construction along the entire line.

With a total length of approximately 175 kilometers and a designed speed of 350 km/h, the Zhangzhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway includes a total of seven stations: Zhangzhou (existing), Zhangpu (existing), Dongshan County, Zhao'an South, Raoping South, Shantou East (reserved), and Shantou (existing). The Fujian section is 127.2 kilometers long, while the Guangdong section is 48.83 kilometers long.

"After the opening of the Zhangzhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway, Dongshan County of Zhangzhou will be connected by railway for the first time. It will also become the main channel for exchanges between the Yangtze River Delta region, the Pearl River Delta region, the southwestern region, and the southeastern coastal region. It will take less than an hour to travel from Xiamen to Shantou, which will facilitate the construction of the Shantou-Chaozhou-Jieyang urban agglomeration and the Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou urban agglomeration and urbanization along the line. It will also drive economic growth in the southeastern coastal region, promote exchanges between the GBA and the economic zone on the west side of the Taiwan Strait, and accelerate the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road," said Li Zhebo, the person in charge of the Zhangzhou-Shantou High-Speed Railway project.
