"The number of new local COVID-19 infections is still increasing, most of which are concentrated in high-risk areas in Haizhu District. Guangzhou has organized 4,600 medical staff to support Haizhu District and other high-risk areas, aiming to detect new cases as soon as possible and cut off the community transmission chains," said Zhang Yi, deputy head of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, at the press conference on Guangzhou's fight against COVID-19 today (November 16).
On November 15, Guangdong reported 195 new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and 6,215 new asymptomatic infections. In addition, there were 369 local confirmed cases converted from previous asymptomatic cases.
Guangzhou reports 6,296 new local COVID-19 infections
"On November 15, Guangzhou reported 6,296 new local COVID-19 infections, of which 17 were detected at the community level and the remaining infections were detected during quarantine, in high-risk areas or among key people under closed-loop management," said Zhang Yi.
Haizhu District reported 6,060 local COVID-19 infections. The new cases are still concentrated in the Kanglu area of Fengyang Subdistrict. The epidemic continues in high-risk areas in Huazhou's Longtan and Nanzhou's Datang. The number of new cases in Chigang and Jianghai Subdistricts dropped. There were several new cases outside of control areas, which indicated the epidemic prevention and control situation in Haizhu District is still serious and complex.
The epidemic situation in Panyu District improved. Some areas in Zhongcun and Shatou Subdistricts lifted the temporary control measures. The risks of community transmission still existed since some new cases’ tracks involved transportation hub and wet markets.
The epidemic in Tianhe District was stabilized. There were several new cases detected in Huadu District. The cluster infections in Baiyun District showed a trend of ending. The epidemic in Liwan District was also stabilized while there were still some new cases.
Shenzhen reports 9+3 new cases
On November 15, Shenzhen added 9 confirmed cases and 3 asymptomatic cases. The cases’ tracks involved Dongmen Subdistrict, Shenzhen Far East Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital in Shennan East Road, and Luohu District People’s Hospital in Youyi Road, which has caused some risks of community transmission.
Zhuhai reports 2+3 new cases
On November 15, Zhuhai added 2 confirmed cases and 3 asymptomatic cases. Doumen District announced to carry out COVID-19 control measures in some areas, including checking 24h or 48h nucleic acid test result and suspend dine-in service.
Shaoguan reports 1+2 new cases
On November 15, Shaoguan added 1 confirmed cases and 2 asymptomatic cases, whose tracks involved Wujiang District’s Xilian Town and Xinfeng County.
Huizhou reports 1+4 new cases
On November 15, Huizhou added 1 confirmed cases (in Huidong County) and 4 asymptomatic cases (2 in Huicheng District and 2 in Huiyang District), all were travelers from other provincial-level regions.
Maoming reports 2 new cases
On November 15, Maoming added 2 confirmed cases. Maonan District’s Xinhua Subdistrict and Xinpo Town announced 3 high-risk areas.
Zhaoqing reports 12+7 new cases
On November 15, Zhaoqing added 12 confirmed cases and 7 asymptomatic cases.
