In a concerted effort to combat cross-border drug smuggling, authorities in Guangdong and Hong Kong have intensified their collaboration with a 2024 anti-drug special operation, which has resulted in the confiscation of approximately 1.32 tons of various narcotics since the beginning of this year.
By innovating mechanisms, Guangdong and Hong Kong customs focus on monitoring and intercepting drug shipments via international maritime logistics, airport travel inspections, and postal express channels.
The Guangdong Sub-Administration of GACC, together with the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, has organized city customs and police forces to partner closely with Hong Kong customs to execute targeted operations against drug trafficking.
So far, 1,014 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine, marijuana flowers, and other drugs have been seized in Hong Kong, and 305.6 kilograms of ketamine, cocaine, and other narcotics have been seized in the mainland.
Recently, the main method of drug smuggling has remained to be drug traffickers remotely controlling logistics companies in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, disguising large quantities of drugs as normal goods and articles, and subcontracting them through logistics channels such as sea and air to carry out cross-border and transnational smuggling.
Next, the customs in Guangdong will crack down on all kinds of drug smuggling crimes, and work with the law enforcement departments of the two places to continue to carry out the 2024 anti-drug special operation.
