Celebrities from world-famous Bay Areas send regards to GBA human resources service forum

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Human Resources Service Industry High-Quality Development Forum was held in Shenzhen on November 22.

With the theme “All Develops with Surging Momentum”, the Forum invited experts and scholars from China and abroad to discuss the construction of a talent hub in the GBA. It aims to explore a high-quality development path for the human resources service industry.

On the opening day, leading figures from the world’s three largest Bay Areas, namely the New York Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Tokyo Bay Area, sent their regards to the Forum as guests of honor. They commented on the GBA’s international influence and talent attraction from a global perspective and offered their great hopes and suggestions.

Harley Seyedin, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China, has lived in Guangzhou for more than three decades. He traveled across half the world from the US to China to seek investment opportunities and settled down in the GBA. “GBA consists of a cluster of vibrant cities with each having different capabilities to bring to the table,” said Seyedin. He believes the GBA is ideal for high-tech research and manufacturing. The existing pool of experts and talents in the GBA is a major reason for its continuous success.

“I highly encourage the cooperation between the GBA and New York Bay Area, especially in talent exchanges.” Seyedin expressed the hope that the two bay areas of China and the US can work together to create a bright future.

“The San Francisco Bay Area region, the United States, and China’s GBA have always maintained close ties with each other through talent flows.” Sean Randolph, Senior Director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute, believes that in the future, cooperation between the two bay areas can be raised to a new height. “China’s economy is so large. The GBA economy is so large that it’s a natural partner.”

Tanabe Hisato, General Manager of the Guangzhou Branch of Mizuho Bank (China), Ltd., who is familiar with the Tokyo Bay Area, has been traveling between China and Japan for many years. He has witnessed the rapid development of the GBA. Mizuho Bank, which Tanabe Hisato serves, is one of Japan’s top three banks. It set up a branch in Guangzhou as early as 2008, with a clientele dominated by the three major Japanese automobile and parts manufacturing companies. Tanabe Hisato worked in Shenzhen and Guangzhou in 2005 and 2008 respectively. In July 2020, he moved to Guangzhou for a second time to take up the position of General Manager of the Guangzhou Branch of Mizuho Bank.

“It is an invaluable opportunity for me to work and live in this vibrant GBA. People, goods, and wealth from all over the world gather here. It is also the geographical center of Asia. We are very much looking forward to creating new business opportunities and continuing to grow in the GBA!”

The event was jointly organized by the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province and Nanfang Media Group.
