The anticipated Phase 3 of Zhongshan Sewage Treatment Plant (also known as the expansion project of Zhongjia Sewage Treatment Plant) was put into operation 13 days ahead of schedule on December 15.
As the largest of its kind in Zhongshan, the Phase 3 project will help increase downtown Zhongshan's sewage treatment capacity and efficiency and further improve the city's water quality and living environment.
Zhongjia Sewage Treatment Plant is located in the southwest part of downtown Zhongshan and covers an area of 30 hectares. The total daily treatment capacity of Phase 1 and Phase 2 is 200,000 square meters.
With Phase 3 put into use, the plant's daily treatment capacity can reach 400,000 square meters. It will serve some 600,000 people within a range of nearly 133 square kilometers in Shiqi District, East District, West District, South District, Wuguishan District, Shaxi Town and other areas.
