Paris Olympics to be broadcast live in cinemas for first time

The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, an important milestone in the history of the Games as they return to the French capital after a century, will be broadcast live in cinemas across China. The initiative aims to meet the growing demand for the cultural consumption of sports events among the public.

This collaboration not only realizes the dream of watching the Olympics on the big screen but also pioneers a new dimension in sports viewing, marking a crossover fusion between television and film content.

The Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11 (local time), feature 329 gold medals across 32 different disciplines. China's delegation, consisting of 716 athletes, will compete in 30 sports and 42 sub-disciplines. Olympic champions such as Ding Ning and Dong Dong have expressed their enthusiasm for this new cinema experience, sharing their excitement and offering blessings to their compatriots at the games.

From July 27 (Beijing time), hundreds of cinemas that meet the broadcasting requirements will show the Olympic Games live. This includes not just the thrilling sporting events but also the opening and closing ceremonies. Audiences can immerse themselves in the historical legacy of the Olympics, the exquisite performances, and the vibrant atmosphere, much like being physically present in Paris.

Pre-sales for the cinema broadcasts have already commenced, allowing moviegoers to secure tickets through major ticketing platforms such as China Film Pass, Maoyan, and Taopiaopiao. They can watch a range of sports including table tennis, badminton, diving, volleyball, basketball, and football on the big screen.
