Guangdong will experience more heat waves in the next few days. The temperature could soar to 36 degrees Celsius in most parts of cities and counties and reach around 37 degrees Celsius in other areas of the province.
According to a press conference held by the China Meteorological Administration yesterday (July 4th), Guangdong is expected to be even hotter this summer, with temperatures forecasted to be 1 to 2 degrees Celsius higher than last year.
In July, four rounds of large-scale high temperatures are expected in the province: July 4-9, July 14-17, July 24-26, and July 30-31.
Are you already worried about the “dog days” of summer or Sanfu (Chinese: 三伏) already? In the Chinese lunar calendar, Sanfu are predicted to be the hottest days of the year and usually falls between mid-July and mid-August. There are three phases including Chufu (Chinese: 初伏), Zhongfu (Chinese: 中伏), and Mofu (Chinese: 末伏).
This year, Chufu will last for ten days from July 15 to July 24, while Zhongfu will begin on July 25 and end on August 13, and Mofu from August 14 to August 23.
How should we cope with the dog days of summer? It is recommended to try the Sanfutie, or Sanfu medicinal patch, which is a bandage made of traditional Chinese herbal medicine. In addition, you can also enjoy a sauna, try cupping or moxibustion therapy, and go swimming.
