Fireworks show lights up Shantou in Chinese Lunar New Year

A magnificent fireworks display was held in Shantou City, Guangdong Province, China to celebrate the 2024 Spring Festival on the night of February 11, which marked the second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year.

"It's so wonderful and touching,” said Fang Junhong, executive president of the Canada Teochew Federation, who was impressed by the grand fireworks show and the development of his hometown.

The fireworks show lasted for 30 minutes on the sea, where nine ships loaded with fireworks were lined up for nearly two kilometers. More than 50,000 rounds of fireworks were set off and bloomed in the air.

3,000 drones also took off at the same time and formed shapes with cultural characteristics of the Chaoshan region, such as Chaoshan beef hotpot and Yingge Dance, a form of folk dance popular in the region.
