Don't miss Guangzhou's bougainvillea this season!

If one word could describe the autumn of Haizhu District, Guangzhou, it would undoubtedly be "vibrant." The district blooms like an ocean of flowers in this season.

Unlike the yellowing leaves of autumn in the north, the sight of bougainvillea blooming along the streets of Guangzhou signifies the arrival of autumn in this evergreen city. Although bougainvillea blossoms all year round, its most prosperous period is from October to April.

Compared to the towering beauty of the silk floss tree, bougainvillea's low-growing nature makes it more approachable, allowing for an intimate appreciation of its vibrant, clustered blossoms. Look up at the cascading flower clusters draped from overhead viaducts, a quintessential "flower waterfall" unique to Guangzhou.

Bougainvillea is characterized by its diverse colours, long blooming period, and prosperous floral display. In Haizhu, it's not uncommon to stumble upon stretches of road adorned with bougainvillea hues.

Bougainvillea adorns the city's main roads, bridges, the banks of the Pearl River, and airport highways, making Guangzhou verdant and floral all year round. Renowned nationwide as the "aerial flower corridor," it serves as a stunning cityscape card for Guangzhou and rightfully earns its title as the "star plant" of the city's bridge greenery.

These floral beauties stretch for tens of meters along viaducts and highways, cinching a "flower belt" around the waist of Haizhu's urban landscape.
