During the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday in 2024 (from June 8 to June 10), Guangdong welcomed a total of 19.245 million visitors, with tourism revenue reaching 9.11 billion yuan. Scenic spots rated 4A and above across the province received 6.106 million visitors, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province.
During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the province organized a series of festivities based on the theme of the 2024 "Culture and Natural Heritage Day," enabling the people to immerse themselves in the Lingnan-style traditional folk customs.
Among these events, dragon boat racing could be seen everywhere. For example, Guangzhou's Liwan District held the 14th annual "Litchi Bay New Xiguan" folk culture festival at Liwan Lake Park on June 10, the day of the Dragon Boat Festival. It featured a breathtaking shoulder ballet performance, with female dancers gracefully performing on the shoulders, hands, and heads of male dancers to beautiful music.
Zhongshan also held the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Zhongshan) Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament and the Zhongshan Dragon Boat Culture Month activities. They invited 63 dragon boat teams from 12 cities, including those from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), to participate, presenting residents and tourists with high-quality races.
