In recent days, Guangdong's Meizhou has been hit by continuous heavy and torrential rains, with some areas experiencing heavy downpours. Multiple rivers have surged past their warning levels. At 8 am on June 17, the city's flood control headquarters upgraded the emergency response from Level II to Level I.

By 11 am on June 17, the water level at the Sanhe Dam (Three) Station (Sanhe Town, Dapu County) on the Han River had reached 47.98 meters, exceeding the warning level (42.0 meters) by 5.98 meters, and continued to rise.

Urban and rural flooding has been reported across various towns in Pingyuan County and Jiaoling County, leading to road collapses and landslides in some areas. Several towns and villages are experiencing disruptions in water, power, and communication services. As of 9:30 pm on June 16, 1,233 people in Pingyuan County and 539 people in Jiaoling County had been evacuated to safety.
Severe flooding and geological disasters have affected Chayang Town, Gaobei Town, and other areas in Dapu County, resulting in road blockages and damage to power and communication lines. At 11 pm on June 16, Dapu County formed an emergency rescue team to assist in the hardest-hit areas, including Chayang Town and Gaobei Town. By 8 am on June 17, 10,375 residents had been transferred to the safety places.

Furthermore, several schools in Meizhou suspended classes on June 17.
Meanwhile, due to the continued rise of river levels and the saturation of soil in mountainous areas, at 11:30 am on June 17, Guangdong initiated a provincial Level IV emergency disaster response.
Rainfall expected to weaken across the province
Rainfall is expected to weaken across most of the province from June 17 to 18, and some parts of the central and western regions will still experience moderate to heavy thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain. On June 17, heavy and torrential rains will persist in Shaoguan and northern Qingyuan.
The weather will turn hot from June 19 to 20, with temperatures around 35°C in some cities, but there will still be brief afternoon thunderstorms.

On June 18, Shaoguan, Qingyuan, northern Heyuan, and Zhaoqing will experience moderate thundershowers and scattered heavy rain. Other regions will see cloudy skies and sunny intervals, with thundershowers and localized downpours.
From June 19 to 20, Shaoguan, Qingyuan, and Zhaoqing are likely to witness cloudy to clear skies, with thundershowers and isolated heavy rain. The rest of the province will be cloudy with scattered thundershowers, and some areas' temperatures are anticipated to reach around 35℃.
