Qingyuan Liannan : sparking vitality in industrial parks and rural cultural tourism

Recently, this reporter visited the "Wanshan Chaowang" sightseeing platform , where numerous tourists were seen admiring the breathtaking scenery. On August 14th, the Qingyuan Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau announced that the "Wanshan Chaowang" scenic area in Liannan Yao Autonomous County had been designated as a National 4A-level tourist attraction.

In recent years, Liannan Yao Autonomous County has seized the opportunity of the "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Project" initiative, fostering sustained, healthy, and stable economic and social development across the county.

Industrial parks usher in a new era of high-quality development

A vibrant landscape of high-quality industrial development is gradually unfolding in Liannan.

In August 2018, the Liannan Rice-Fish-Tea Modern Agriculture Industrial Park was selected for the third batch of provincial-level modern agriculture industrial park construction plans in Guangdong Province. To date, the county's rice, fish, and tea agricultural products have gained two new organic certifications and nine organic conversion certifications, and three products have been branded with the prestigious "Guangdong Honored Brand" label. The "Liannan Daye Tea" has received national geographical indications for agricultural products, while the rice field fish has passed the provincial evaluation for the same status. Both "Liannan Daye Tea" and "Gaoshan Daoxiang Rice" have been recognized as nationally famous brands, special, excellent, and new agricultural products. The tea products have also garnered a national gold medal, a national silver medal, three provincial silver medals, and one provincial quality award, showcasing the growing influence of these brands.

Besides, the Qingyuan Liannan Industrial Park, located within Zhaigang Town , was established in 2011. In May 2023, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province recognized it as a provincial-level industrial park, officially named the "Guangdong Liannan Industrial Park." With a total planned area of 12,700 acres, the park currently hosts 11 enterprises, primarily focused on new materials, biotechnology, hardware, stone, plastic, and metal industries, including four large-scale enterprises . In 2023, the park achieved an industrial output value of approximately 293 million yuan, contributed tax revenue of around 11 million yuan, and provided employment for 1,110 people. Upon completion of all three industrial bases, the annual industrial output value is projected to reach 25 billion yuan.

Forging a new identity in ethnic culture and ecotourism

Earlier this year, the "Red of the Yao Mountains" Rural Revitalization Demonstration Belt in Liannan was successfully selected as one of the "Guangdong Province's Top Ten Rural Revitalization Demonstration Belt s," earning a reward of 100 million yuan in funding.

Spanning 100 kilometers in length, this demonstration belt aligns with the geography of Liannan, stretching north-south and narrowing east-west, from Jinkeng Village in Sanjiang Town to Huanglian Village in Damai Mountain Town. Along Provincial Highway S261, it connects five towns and 60 administrative villages, benefiting over 110,000 farmers, and serving as a significant platform for promoting high-quality development in ethnic regions in Liannan.

The "Wanshan Chaowang" scenic area, nestled in central Liannan, has witnessed a surge in visitors following its recent designation as a National 4A-level tourist attraction. "I heard that Liannan has a new 4A-level tourist attraction, so I brought my family here for a few days during the summer vacation," said Mr. Xie from Guangzhou, who was taking a family photo at the scenic area. He added that the trip had been enriching for his children, who experienced the cultural charm and natural beauty of the Yao people firsthand.

"More and more tourists are coming to Liannan now," said Aunt Li, who runs a farmhouse in the area. With the increasing number of visitors, her business has flourished. Her son, who originally worked outside the county, was also prompted to return home to help manage the farmhouse.
