When the 5th Sangma Black-hair Wax Gourd Festival and Cultural Activities kicked off in 2025, Sangma Village in Xintan Town, Shunde District, Foshan City, was bustling with excitement.
The black-hair wax gourd is a distinctive agricultural product of Sangma Village and a highlight of Xintan's cuisine. It has a sandy, sweet, and starchy texture, is rich in nutrients, and can be paired with various ingredients; whether meat or vegetables, all combinations are sweet and delicious.
The Sangma black-hair wax gourd was awarded the first pollution-free agricultural product certification in Guangdong Province in the early 1990s and was included in the "National List of Famous, Special, and Quality Agricultural Products" in 2022.

This year, the 5th Sangma Black-HairWax Gourd Festival continued the cooking competition and "Melon King" competition, attracting many spectators. In the "Melon King" competition, villager Li Guangxi won the championship with his melon and became the new "Melon King."
