The 135th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) is scheduled to take place in Guangzhou from April 15th to May 5th. Recent data indicates that bookings for both flights to the city and hotels are on the rise. According to the online travel services provider Qunar, bookings for flights to Guangzhou during the Canton Fair have increased 1.2 times compared to the previous week, with a 14% year-on-year increase as of April 7th.
Regarding hotels, during the Canton Fair, hotel bookings in Guangzhou have surged by over 20% compared to the previous year, with prices remaining relatively stable.
According to the platform’s representative, hotel bookings in Guangzhou started rising from March 5th this year, with a week-on-week increase of more than double. The peak booking period was about 10 days earlier than last year. "Among them, the earliest booking for accommodation during the Canton Fair was made as early as October 25th, 2023, which is one month earlier than last year."
To ensure the safety of star-rated hotels during the Canton Fair, the Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau recently organized special training on safety production for the representatives from 63 star-rated hotels in the city. The bureau emphasized the importance of strict implementation of safety production responsibilities by star-rated hotels to ensure the safety and security of guests during the fair, which is considered a prestigious event for Guangzhou.
