On October 30th, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Branch of the National Local Chronicles Museum grandly opened its doors in Zhuhai, marking the establishment of the city's first national cultural institution.
As the seventh national branch of its kind and the inaugural one in South China, the GBA Branch aims to exhibit the unique allure of Chinese culture and the distinct cultural traits of the GBA region, thereby promoting deeper and more extensive exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.
Nestled within Building 1, No. 39 Laodong Road, Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai, the sprawling 20,000-square-meter facility boasts an array of functions, encompassing collection and preservation, exhibition and display, compilation and research, professional consultation, information services, development and utilization, publicity and education, professional training, and cultural exchanges.
The first and second floors of the museum are home to permanent exhibition halls and reception areas, while the third floor features a versatile exhibition and screening hall, a lecture hall, specialized exhibition spaces, and a vibrant youth activity center. The fourth floor is dedicated to a reading and consultation area, housing an impressive collection of 33,581 titles, comprising 53,631 volumes and 378 sets of physical artifacts (totaling 599 pieces). The fifth floor harbors offices, a state-of-the-art oral history recording center, and additional operational facilities.
