Hengqin releases guidelines for tourists and visitors to register vehicle departures from the Cooperation Zone

Visitors and tourists driving vehicles to the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin can scan the QR code to make declarations and to register. This makes departures more convenient.

On February 22, the Economic Development Bureau of the Cooperation Zone issued the Temporary Guidelines for Tourists and Visitors Driving Vehicles through the Second-Tier Channel to Enter and Exit the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. These guidelines facilitate the entry and exit of tourist and visitor vehicles through the second-tier channel after the implementation of special customs operations of the cooperation zone to achieve effective supervision and convenient passage.

The guidelines specify the list of tourist and visitor vehicles that need to be registered when entering and exiting the cooperation zone through the second-tier channel, and they apply only to the management of entry and exit through the second-tier channel. All tourists and visitors driving vehicles to the cooperation zone can voluntarily make declarations and register by using the tourist and visitor QR code provided by the destinations or the visited institutions in the cooperation zone.

Party and government organs, public institutions, statutory organizations, and dispatched institutions and community neighborhood committees established in accrodance with the law in the cooperation zone; enterprises and social organizations registered and established in accordance with the law; relevant institutions that frequently need to enter and exit the cooperation zone for official purposes, and other eligible institutions, can generate tourist and visitor QR codes for tourists and visitors to make declarations and register.

The guidelines also specify the matters to be declared and registered for the list. Only two drivers are allowed to register a private vehicle, and one of them must be the owner of the vehicle. For company vehicles, two or more drivers can be registered. Vehicle registration is only applicable for travel from the cooperation zone to the Chinese mainland (outbound direction), while vehicles traveling from the Chinese mainland to the cooperation zone (inbound direction) will continue to be regulated according to the current rules.
