Service center of ISAF opened in Hengqin to boost TCM development

A service center of the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau of Macao SAR (ISAF) was officially put into use in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao on August 2.

The establishment of the service center aims to better provide value-added services for pharmaceutical enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and promote the sustainable and high-quality development of Macao’s TCM health industry.

It works to provide policy and technical guidance to enterprises intending to apply for the registration and approval of TCM products in Macao, carry out research on TCM-related theories, technologies, policies and legal issues, and conduct TCM-related business consultation, academic exchanges as well as international exchanges and co-operation, training and conferences.

Choi Peng Cheong, the head of ISAF, noted that ISAF had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao and established a service center there, so as to promote the registration and listing of more TCM enterprises in Macao, and provide more choices for the public in medicine use.

At the same time, a conference focusing on TCM-related policies and technologies in the GBA also kicked off. Experts from National Medical Products Administration and related governmental agencies in Guangdong and Macao joined in the conference to conduct discussions on how to promote the high-quality development of TCM in the GBA, and how to synergize rules and mechanisms in Guangdong and Macao.
