Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link connects cities across Pearl River Estuary

As the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is about to open to traffic, the two sides of the Pearl River will be connected by the bridge, turning the entire Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) into a cohesive entity.

The eastern side of the Pearl River Estuary requires space, while the western side yearns for industrial development. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link will expedite industrial synergy between the east and the west.

Cities on the eastern side, such as Shenzhen and Dongguan, boast strong technological innovation and advanced manufacturing capabilities, complete industrial and supply chains, and significant talent advantages. On the western side, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and other cities are developing new space for industrial development.

The two sides, connected by the bridge, will reallocate resources and complement each other, promoting the upgrade of the industrial structure of the entire Bay Area, including western Guangdong.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link starts from Ma'an Island in the west, allowing passengers to travel directly from Zhongshan's Cuiheng New District to Bao'an District in Shenzhen. The 2-hour drive is shortened to less than 30 minutes.

The Link is connected with the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway, making it convenient to travel from Zhuhai or Jiangmen to Shenzhen. Through an approach bridge, it links to the Wanqingsha Branch of the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway, reducing the travel time from Nansha to Shenzhen to around 20 minutes.

Following the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the Huangmaohai Cross-Sea Passage and the Shiziyang Tunnel are also under construction, forming a more intricate bridge network in the GBA.
