"These new epidemic control measures are better for us," Yabe Mitsushi, a Japanese chef who runs an Italian restaurant in Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town, told GDToday on December 3. At present, although the situation of the restaurant has not recovered to where it was before, Yabe believes that the new optimized measures will help improve the situation of the restaurant.
On November 30, various districts in Guangzhou issued announcements to optimize epidemic prevention and control measures, and dine-in services were also resumed in many districts including Tianhe. However, Yabe's restaurant still has not halted all of its measures against COVID-19. "We have expanded the distance between tables to provide guests with a more comfortable dining environment. In addition, we will also provide services such as alcohol disinfection for guests to ensure their health." He also believes that not only in China, but people in other countries should also protect themselves from the virus.
Previously, Yabe's restaurant suspended dine-in service for ten days. During this time, they started to develop some Italian food suitable for delivery. "These new dishes are still being developed. In the future, we hope not only to provide takeaway ready-made dishes, but also to provide some half-cooked ingredients so that customers can finish cooking with a microwave."
Yabe, from Japan, learned to make traditional Italian dishes in Italy. He has lived in Guangzhou for four years and runs this restaurant that insists on serving the most authentic Italian dishes. Most of the restaurant's guests are foreigners such as Japanese and Italians. Fabio Cannavaro, the famous Italian football coach, was also his customer.
Yabe said that he hopes to go to more places in the future, even run restaurants in other cities, and he is also trying to improve more dishes so as to attract more Chinese customers.
