Phase II of Shenzhen Metro Line 8 opens

The first train of the second phase of Shenzhen Metro Line 8 departed from Dameisha Station and headed towards the terminal station, Xiaomeisha Station, on December 27. the second phase of Line 8  is the first metro line in Shenzhen that directly connects the iconic coastal scenic spots Dameisha and Xiaomeisha.

。

The second phase of Line 8 connects the existing Yantian Road Station of Line 2 and Line 8 and sets up four new underground stations: Hong'anwei Station, Yantianxu Station, Dameisha Station, and Xiaomeisha Station with a total length of 8.01km, and a design speed of 80 km/h. The entire line is underground. Because of the characteristics of its route across the mountain and sea, it is known as the "mountain-sea special train".

。

"The opening of the second phrase of Line 8 is a milestone. Dameisha and Xiaomeisha are famous tourist attractions in Shenzhen and used to be very congested without a subway. With the subway in operation,  it will be convenient to take pictures in the future," said Mr. Zhang, a photography enthusiast.

。

Ms. Liu lives just a ten-minute walk from Dameisha Station. She said that the opening of the subway has greatly benefited the local residents. "Previously, we relied solely on buses, but during holidays, the transportation would become extremely congested."

。

After the opening of the second phrase of Line 8, the operating mileage of Shenzhen Metro will reach 555.4 kilometers, with the number of stations increasing to 373.

"This line will further shorten the travel time between Dameisha, Xiaomeisha and central urban areas in Shenzhen such as Luohu, Futian, and Nanshan, promoting stronger urban development and smoother transportation," said Wang Heng, the general manager of the Line 8 Project Department of Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd.
