As the May Day holiday approaches, Guangzhou offers you an integration of modern advancement and traditional experience. In addition to some must-see landmarks like Canton Tower, Guangzhou has packed more surprises for tourists.

Colorful life in Tianhe

Located in the center of Guangzhou, Tianhe District offers both festivities and tranquility for tourists.

The Grandview Mall (正佳广场) will hold a Super Pet Festival that includes over a hundred events during the May Day holiday. Along with the festival, it will also offer special discounts and vouchers for a wide range of goods from fashion to electronic products, as well as discounted museum tickets for parents with kids.

Science Show at the Grandview Science Museum

The Deheyuan Ethnic Cultural Village (德和圆民族文化村features distinctive architecture, music, performance, and culture of Chinese ethnic minorities. Tourists can visit Longyandong Haymarket, Rural Revitalization Museum, Ethnic Costume Museum, Ethnic Theater, and Chinese Tea House in the cultural village. During the May Day holiday, the village will hold a chicken hunting contest, which is a traditional activity in the Hani culture, and an embroidered ball throwing event, which was an activity of marriage in ancient China.

For tourists who like plants or prefer quieter activities, a night walk at the South China National Botanical Garden (华南国家植物园) will be wonderful. It is favored by many young tourists. But remember to bring your mosquito repellents.

Smart vehicles and water sports in Nansha

Nansha District, located in the south end of Guangzhou, is defined as the sub-center of Guangzhou.

GAC Technology Museum (广汽科技馆is an automobile museum that showcases advanced smart production, achievements of technological innovation, and IoT new-energy cars, demonstrating the transformation and upgrade of Guangzhou's automobile industry and Guangzhou's efforts in creating the city of smart cars. In the meantime, the museum's services cover food, drink, entertainment, and shopping.

Another exclusive experience in Nansha is the unmanned taxi. Tourists can easily hail an unmanned taxi on the PonyPilot app.

Summer features water sports. The Nansha Water Sports Base (南沙水上运动基地), opened in 2011, was the first water sports base open to the public. It has a 6-kilometer-long water area, and dragon boat rowing is a highlighted activity.
