Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to open 17 int'l routes in 2nd half of 2024

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport announced that it will open 17 international and regional routes in the second half of this year at the Guangzhou Aviation Hub High-quality Development Conference held on June 17. Among them, new routes will be opened from Guangzhou to Gatwick Airport in London and Perth, Australia. China Southern Airlines and Air Serbia will operate two and one weekly flight(s) from Guangzhou to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, respectively, and flights from Guangzhou to Adelaide in Australia, Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, and Surabaya in Indonesia will also be resumed.

Since 2023, Baiyun Airport has added and restored more than 100 international and regional passenger routes. As of now, the airport has more than 230 passenger destinations, and about 1,500 international and regional passenger flights are made every week. Meanwhile, the airport also offers multiple preferential policies to facilitate customs clearance, such as 24-hour customs clearance and a 144-hour visa-free transit policy.

Currently, Baiyun Airport has a number of integrated ground service businesses, as well as the FedEx Express Asia-Pacific Transshipment Center and the SF Express South China (Guangzhou) Air Transshipment Center. The airport also has a cargo terminal covering more than 500,000 square meters, with an annual processing capacity of more than 4 million tons.

At the same time, the third phase expansion project of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is under construction. After the project is completed and put into operation, the cargo terminal area will be expanded from more than 500,000 square meters to more than 1 million square meters, and the throughput capacity of the cargo terminal will reach more than 6 million tons.

It is expected that by 2025, the total output value of Guangzhou's aviation and related industries will exceed 100 billion RMB.
