City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) to open in September

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) was officially approved on April 16 as an independent educational institution in the Chinese Mainland. The university has already started accepting applications for undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with classes set to begin in September of this year.

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) will offer four undergraduate programs, including Computer Science and Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Energy and Power Engineering. It will also provide ten master's programs in fields including Computer Science, Electronic Information Engineering, Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Environment, Business Information Systems, Civil and Architectural Engineering, Engineering Management, Biomedical Engineering and Data Science.

The establishment of City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) signifies an important achievement in implementing the development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and promoting higher education cooperation within the region.

The university is located in Dongguan’s Songshan Lake Science City, which is a key area for scientific research and innovation in the Greater Bay Area. It is surrounded by various scientific facilities, Guangdong provincial laboratories and leading technology companies.

The establishment of City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) will contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area as a hub for international talent and a comprehensive national science center. It will also inject new energy into the higher education sector in Dongguan.
