Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway starts joint testing

On October 18, an inspection train departed from Shanwei Railway Station to Shantou South Railway Station, marking the start of the joint commissioning and testing of the south section of the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway.

Spanning 142.5 kilometers, the south section starts from Shantou South Railway Station and ends at Shanwei Railway Station, going through 47 bridges and 13 tunnels.

According to the railway authorities, the joint commissioning and testing is mainly to simulate the running status after opening to traffic and will test the performance of various systems including the railway track, roadbed, bridge, tunnel, power supply, overhead catenary system, communication, and signaling. After the joint commissioning and testing, the railway will start trial operation.

With a design speed of 350 km/h, the Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway has a total length of 162.3 kilometers. And there are a total of five newly-built stations, including Shantou South Railway Station, Chaonan Railway Station, Huilai Railway Station, Lufeng East Railway Station and Lufeng South Railway Station.

The Shantou-Shanwei High-speed Railway is also an important part of the Ningbo-Guangzhou High-speed railway, connecting the city clusters in the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta.

After opening to traffic, it will facilitate the integration of cities along the route into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, connect them with eastern China, promote high-quality development of the region as well as boost rural revitalization.
