Fragrant green plums fill the streets in China's Yunfu

In Bulang Village, Hetou Town, Xinxing County, Yunfu, the plum orchards are bursting with clusters of emerald-green fruit.

Farmers carefully handpick the low-hanging plums, while for those growing high above, they spread nets on the ground and gently shake the branches with bamboo poles, collecting the fallen fruit for careful selection.

Xinxing County is a major hub for plum cultivation and processing in Guangdong Province and one of the largest distribution centers for preserved fruits. Its famed preserved plum, made from green plums, is a nationally protected geographical indication product. This year, the county's 40,000 mu (about 2,667 hectares) of plum orchards have entered their harvest season. With favorable weather conditions, a bumper crop is expected, and the plums will be in season for about ten days.

Winding through Hetou Town is the crystal-clear Xinxing River, which mirrors the lush plum groves along its banks. The river teems with fish and shrimp, freshly caught and cooked into mouthwatering river delicacies. Whether you're strolling by the river, tasting freshly picked plums, or indulging in local seafood, the rural charm of Xinxing is irresistible.
