Guangdong police have doubled their efforts to ensure a safe environment for residents during the three-day New Year holiday, according to Guangdong Provincial Department of Public Security.

From December 31 to January 2, crime and public security cases in Guangdong province dropped by 7.05% year-on-year, while no serious cases occurred; traffic accidents have fallen by 38.9% year-on-year, with no heavy traffic congestion on major roads.

During the holiday, the Guangdong police have safeguarded 22 mass events, 207 tourist attractions rated 4A and above and 3,594 flights carrying 392.3 thousand passengers, the statement said.
