Guangdong's cross-border e-commerce import and export volume reached 427.34 billion yuan in the first half of 2024, according to the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province on July 25.
This marks a significant growth from 11.3 billion yuan in 2015 to 843.3 billion yuan in 2023, with an average annual growth rate of 71.4%. Cross-border e-commerce now accounts for over 10% of Guangdong's total foreign trade and more than one-third of the national cross-border e-commerce import and export volume.
Guangdong has established comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones across the province, totaling 21 zones. Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan each have annual cross-border e-commerce trade volumes exceeding 100 billion yuan, while Dongguan, Zhuhai, Huizhou, and Shantou have reached scales of over 10 billion yuan each.
In terms of infrastructure, Guangdong has developed six international mail exchange bureaus and 17 international express supervision centers. The province handles more than 120,000 international parcels per hour.
In addition, the total area of overseas warehouses established globally by Guangdong enterprises has reached nearly 6 million square meters.
Guangdong plans to advance the construction of comprehensive pilot zones and integrate data from these zones' online comprehensive service platforms with the provincial cross-border e-commerce public service platform. The province aims to promote the experiences of Shenzhen's pilot projects in cross-border e-commerce.
