Guangdong faces scorching July with thunderstorms and possible typhoons

July brings relentless heat and thunderstorms to southern China. Starting from July 3, heavy rainfall in the region will significantly decrease, bracing for scorching temperatures exceeding 35°C.

Guangdong enters the dog days of summer and the post-flood season. Scattered thunderstorms, high temperatures, and potential typhoons will dominate the entire month.

According to forecasts, Guangdong will mainly experience four precipitation periods in July: July 1 to 3 (thunderstorms, localized heavy rain or downpours), July 10-12 (moderate to heavy rain, localized downpours), July 18-23 (heavy rain, localized downpours), and July 26-29 (moderate to heavy rain, localized downpours).

There will also be four widespread high-temperature periods: July 4 to 9, July 14 to 17, July 24 to 26, and July 30 to 31.

Weather forecast for Guangdong Province in the coming days

On July 2, Shaoguan, Qingyuan, northern parts of the Pearl River Delta, and northern cities of western Guangdong will have cloudy to overcast skies with moderate to heavy thunderstorms and localized heavy rain. Other areas will be cloudy with scattered showers or thunderstorms, and localized heavy rain.

On July 3, eastern Guangdong will be mostly sunny to cloudy with localized thunderstorms, while other regions will have cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms. The highest temperatures will range from 34°C to 36°C in most areas, with some regions reaching around 37°C.
