Exploring cultural tourism in Hengqin with Macao's Chinese media

On August 16, the third phase of the Macao Chinese Media Tour in Hengqin kicked off, featuring a two-day exploration of cultural tourism. Aligned with the upcoming Chimelong Phase II Cosmic Spaceship project, the media tour included visits to unique cultural tourism sites, showcasing the resources of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

During the event, the Macao media group started by experiencing cutting-edge self-driving technology through a ride on an autonomous bus at the Hengqin Port. Currently, Hengqin has opened a 195-kilometer two-way self-driving test route, hosting around 3,500 passengers. Future plans include expanding and operating more routes, including service connections from Hengqin Port to the Macau New Neighborhood (MNN) and the city center.

Then, the Macao media group visited the Chimelong Cosmic Spaceship, exploring its themed zones such as the Universe World, Canyon Planet, Coral Sanctuary, and Universe Paradise, witnessing the captivating fusion of education and entertainment.

As the world's largest standalone indoor tourist attraction, the Chimelong Hengqin Cosmic Spaceship is about to commence operations. With a total length of approximately 650 meters and a building area of 400,000 square meters, it can accommodate up to 50,000 visitors.

Wu Fangrong, General Manager of Chimelong Cosmic Spaceship, mentioned that since the establishment of the Cooperation Zone, the number of visitors from both Hengqin and Macao has been increasing, and many Macao residents have settled here. Being adjacent to Macao, Hengqin aims to leverage the strengths of both sides to create more business opportunities and contribute to the economic development of the two regions.

In the afternoon, the Macao media group attended a promotional event for collaborative cultural tourism projects and development at the Zhenlin Health community.

Lin Yanjie, head of the Culture, Tourism, Exhibition, and Trade Division of the Economic Development Bureau of the Cooperation Zone, highlighted, "In the first half of this year, the major scenic spots in the Cooperation Zone received a total of 5.16 million visitors. With more new attractions planned for Hengqin, we believe it will attract even more Macao residents to come and enjoy. It is estimated that this year's total number of visitors will exceed 10 million."
