Dongguan recently unveiled its "2024 Major Project Plan," outlining ambitious initiatives to propel development across the city. The plan entails the coordination of 780 major construction projects, commanding a huge investment of 794.3 billion yuan, with an annual planned investment of 112.6 billion yuan. Furthermore, the blueprint encompasses 126 major planned projects with an estimated total investment of 121.9 billion yuan. Notably, Humen Town emerges as a focal point within this expansive strategy, with 21 major construction projects earmarked for the region. These initiatives collectively boast an investment surpassing 39.6 billion yuan, with an annual planned investment of approximately 2.8 billion yuan. Among the slated developments, multiple projects are scheduled to be put into operation within the current year, marking significant milestones in the town's ongoing growth and transformation.
Industry engineering is key to Humen. The town steps up efforts to develop emerging industries of strategic importance such as new generation of information technology, new material, and high-end equipment manufacturing. This effort aims to promote the upgrading of traditional industries and explore new pathways in modern services and future industries.
In the field of new-generation information technology, Humen stands out with four projects recognized as major projects at the city level. Notably, WCON Hardware Electronics's South China Headquarter Intelligent Manufacturing Base Project has been put into operation, boasting a substantial investment of around 503.69 million yuan. The project involves the construction of WCON Hardware Electronics's headquarters, R&D center, and intelligent manufacturing base for precision electronic connectors in South China, with an anticipated annual output value of 540 million yuan.
In the realm of traditional industries, particularly the garment sector which has been recognized as one of Humen's pivotal industries, five major projects with a total investment of 492 million yuan are set to be completed this year. Notably, the Phase A, Plot 1 project of the Greater Bay Area Yiliu Fashion Industrial Park is scheduled to commence construction in June, with an investment of 244.45 million yuan. Focusing on garment manufacturing, this project adopts a leading model of "industry brain plus future factory" and aims to establish a "digital transformation and upgrading demonstration base" integrating raw material supply and sales, design, warehousing logistics, product exhibitions, and comprehensive industry services.
Regarding infrastructure development, the Ningzhou Gas Power Station Construction project is to commence operations in June, backed by an investment of nearly 6 billion yuan. This project marks a significant milestone as the Ningzhou Gas Power Station boasts the largest per-unit installed capacity among gas-fired generators ever constructed in China. Employing cutting-edge technology, it features the highest per-unit power and efficiency gas turbines globally. Once operational, this plant will play a pivotal role as an essential energy supply hub in the Pearl River Delta region, offering crucial support for the economic growth of Guangdong.
In the field of urban renewal, the Humen High-speed Railway Station TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) Core Area Comprehensive Development Project, boasting a total investment of 24 billion yuan, covers approximately 3,665 mu (603.8 acres) in the planned area, with the station's core area spanning about 560 mu (92.25 acres). Key components such as the new station building, TID(Transport Integrated Development) transfer center, and urban platforms have been operational since 2023. This visionary project is designed to establish an integrated transportation hub, a modern industrial cluster blending urban development with industrial growth, and an international community conducive to living, working, and leisure.
