Guangdong's heavy rainfall has ceased, but caution against thunderstorms remains necessary

On May 5th, apart from scattered showers lingering in some southeastern areas, most parts of Guangdong saw rain clearing up and skies turning cloudy, with the long-lost sunshine making an appearance. On May 6th, the weather in Guangdong was sunny with intervals of clouds, with temperature rising across the province.

It is estimated that from May 7th to May 8th, the weather in most parts of Guangdong will be cloudy, with some areas in the central and northern regions experiencing isolated moderate to heavy thunderstorms or even downpours. Precaution measures should continue to be taken against heavy rainfalls and its secondary hazards such as flash floods, debris flows, landslides, collapses, urban and rural waterlogging, and flooding in small and medium-sized rivers. In addition, addressing disasters caused by severe convective weather is a crucial aspect of the precautionary efforts.

Weather Forecast

Please be advised that the recent prolonged heavy rainfall in Guangdong has led to increased soil moisture content, consequently causing a delayed impact on geological hazards. Therefore, it remains crucial to diligently carry out the necessary defense measures to mitigate potential risks.
