Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department recently announced that the 2nd USIP World Police Service Pistol Shooting Championship will be held from November 14th to 19th at Guangdong’s Police Training Center.

This is the first time that the Chinese public security authority will host the championship.
Jiang Lida, Director of the Political Department of Guangdong’s Provincial Public Security Department confirmed that a total of 256 police men and women from 73 countries and regions have registered for the competition, including Argentina, Australia, Pakistan, France, Italy and Pananma.

In order to host a successful competition, Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department has built a multi-functional complex, high-standard shooting range and other supporting facilities. Furthermore, they organize more than 200 volunteers to provide interpretation and hosting services during the competition.
“I’m really impressed how the organizers have gotten everything well prepared in a short time,” said Sandro Dirckx, Secretary General of the USIP.
“As the pioneer of the reform and opening up, Guangdong is an important window on China’s great achievement,” said Dirckx. “We can sense this achievement from the training center and high-standard shooting range.”

Mr. Dirckx also stated that the competition is an important platform for police around the world to exchange their knowledge, working experience and build friendships. On the other hand, people from all over the world can get to know more about China’s culture and development through the competition.
Huang Guozhang, one of the main referees of this year’s competition explained that 10 scenarios have been set up to test the comprehensive abilities and qualities of contestants’ shooting skills, tactical application, on-the-spot response and psychological pressure under simulated real conditions.

In an attempt to ensure fairness and transparency, Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department developed a set of intelligent management systems allowing players to obtain real-time match result and ranking, according to Alain Joly, Vice President of the International Practical Shooting Confederation.

As a regular event organized by the USIP, the shooting championship is held to promote practical training with firearms so as to increase the effectiveness of police when needing to use guns.
The World Police Service Pistol Shooting Championship was first held in Hungary in 2015, during which Team 1 and Team 2 from Shenzhen’s Public Security Bureau took both first and second places on behalf of the Chinese delegation.
